Actress Rosanna Arquette has clarified the inspiration behind Toto's 1980s hit "Rosanna." While she was dating Toto founding member Steve Porcaro during its creation, Arquette, 66, told PEOPLE that the song, written by David Paich, was inspired by her but not directly about her. She believes Paich, 71, used her name for the title.
However, Arquette confirmed that Peter Gabriel's 1989 hit "In Your Eyes" was written specifically about her. The song gained fame after a memorable scene in the film "Say Anything." Arquette and Gabriel, 75, were in a relationship for several years and resided together in the UK.
Arquette, who was briefly married to composer James Newton Howard in the mid-80s, expressed a current desire to move beyond being an artist's muse. She feels that artists can sometimes exploit a muse's energy, leaving them depleted.
