A significant bronze sculpture, weighing one tonne and capable of revolving, has been installed at Longleat Safari Park in Wiltshire. The artwork, titled 'Struggles and Triumphs,' is on loan from the renowned musician Ronnie Wood, guitarist for the Rolling Stones.
Wood, who has a lifelong passion for painting and drawing, created the sculpture based on an earlier smaller piece completed in a single afternoon. This larger bronze version, depicting a man and a horse, was conceived "on a whim" due to his fondness for horses.
The sculpture was meticulously crafted and then underwent a rotating feature, an idea suggested by the foundry. Wood found the suggestion brilliant and felt the safari park's Secret Garden was the ideal location.
Wood and his wife, Lady Bath, share a commitment to conservation and are ambassadors for the wildlife charity Tusk. Their involvement with Tusk stems from a desire to protect endangered animals for future generations, underscoring the importance of conservation efforts for species like rhinos and lions.
