Robin Wright Suffers Concussion On Set

Robin Wright recently concluded a four-year intensive involvement with Prime Video's 'The Girlfriend', a project where she juggled directing, executive producing, and starring. The series, adapted from Michelle Frances' novel, proved to be an exceptionally demanding endeavor for Wright, prompting her to announce a period of rest.

Wright recounted the challenging journey of bringing 'The Girlfriend' to screen, detailing how Amazon's last-minute greenlight saved the project after multiple rejections. She also stepped into the lead role of Laura when casting proved difficult. The show's unique narrative structure, presenting events from two distinct viewpoints—Laura's and Cherry's—necessitated filming perspectives consecutively, which occasionally led to on-set confusion among cast and crew.

During production, Wright experienced a serious on-set injury, sustaining a concussion when a lighting rig fell and struck her head. Despite the injury, she initially wished to continue filming. The series also featured intense scenes, including one depicting explicit content that was later removed due to audience testing feedback. Wright indicated a need for a break after this demanding production.
