Robert Pattinson, already a major star known for portraying Batman, has reportedly undergone screen tests for the role of James Bond. This development comes as a surprise, with Pattinson joining other actors like Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, and Josh O'Connor in the running. Conventional wisdom might suggest a less globally recognized star for the role, yet Pattinson's prominent status makes him a notable contender.
The screen tests are understood to have occurred over the weekend of October 24. Pattinson has a history of working with acclaimed directors and recently collaborated with Bond director Denis Villeneuve on the upcoming 'Dune: Part 3,' scheduled for release on December 18. This period marks a significant career peak for Pattinson, with other notable film roles and 'The Batman Part II' currently in production.
This casting process is occurring under new leadership, with Amazon now overseeing the Bond franchise following its acquisition of creative rights in February 2025. Producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman are involved in bringing the next installment to the screen. Pattinson's career trajectory includes early success in 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' before achieving worldwide fame with 'Twilight'.
