The film, directed by Australian Patrick Hughes, will depict Thornton's real-life survival in the South China Sea, an act that earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor. Ritchson stars alongside Joe Cole and Hoa Xuande in this production.
Supported by the Australian and Queensland governments, this project is anticipated to employ around 260 local cast and crew, injecting an estimated AUD50 million into the Queensland economy. This initiative underscores Queensland's commitment to being a premier destination for screen production.
