Louis Partridge Lands Coveted "Pride and Prejudice" Role After Initial Doubts

In November 2025, rising actor Louis Partridge almost missed out on the opportunity to star as George Wickham in Netflix's highly anticipated adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice." Partridge revealed that when the role first came up, he didn't even audition, thinking he was too young for the part. However, when the opportunity arose again, he decided to give it a try, and landed the coveted role.

The six-episode series, written by Dolly Alderton and directed by Euros Lyn, boasts an impressive ensemble cast. Emma Corrin will portray Elizabeth Bennet, Jack Lowden will play Mr. Darcy, and Olivia Colman will take on the role of Mrs. Bennet. Partridge is thrilled to be part of this latest adaptation, praising Alderton's ability to bring a fresh perspective to the timeless Jane Austen classic.

"Dolly Alderton is the perfect person to adapt this, and Jane Austen is somewhat timeless. Dolly's got a finger on the pulse," Partridge said. Partridge, who recently starred in the Netflix series "House of Guinness" and will reprise his role as Tewkesbury in "Enola Holmes 3," admits he wasn't too familiar with the original "Pride and Prejudice" novel before signing on for the project. However, after reading it, he was captivated by the "brilliant, brilliant writing and a timeless story."
