In a significant move, acclaimed Norwegian filmmaker Mona Fastvold has signed with the London-based Magna Studios. Fastvold, known for her work as a director, writer, and producer, has been generating buzz around her latest project, 'The Testament of Ann Lee', which premiered at the Venice Film Festival this year.
The film, which Fastvold co-wrote with her partner Brady Corbet, follows the story of the founder of the Shaker religious movement in the 18th century. After its premiere, the project was acquired by Searchlight Pictures, further solidifying Fastvold's reputation as a rising talent in the industry.
Fastvold's previous directorial efforts, 'The Sleepwalker' (2014) and 'The World to Come' (2020), have also received critical acclaim, with the latter earning the Queer Lion award and a Golden Globe nomination. Joining Magna's roster of emerging and established voices, Fastvold expressed her excitement about the partnership, stating, "I've been looking for true partners who believe in me and my work, and Magna is exactly that."
