As of October 2025, actor Rio Raj is gearing up for the release of his new comedy film 'Aan Paavam Pollathathu' (APP), where he will reunite with his 'Joe' co-star Malavika Manoj. The film, directed by debutant Kalaiarasan Thangavel, explores the dynamics of an arranged marriage, delving into the challenges, misunderstandings, and the importance of mutual understanding in a relationship.
Rio, who has been successfully balancing his television and film commitments, shares that while it is challenging, he is enjoying the journey. He explains that the struggles and hurdles are faced together as a team and family, and he has been able to manage dates for both mediums so far. However, Rio acknowledges that the perception of people regarding the impact of his dual roles on his performance is a real challenge, though he personally does not feel it affects his work.
The actor reveals that he often turns to his close confidants, including actor Sivakarthikeyan, RJ Vigneshkanth, VJ Siddhu, and his co-star from 'Joe', Kavinn GT, for guidance and support. Rio's wife is also a key person he relies on during his professional journey.

Discussing the theme of 'Aan Paavam Pollathathu', Rio explains that the film portrays how acceptance and adjustment are crucial for a healthy marriage, as partners often hide their true selves initially before their original personalities surface. The story is told from a man's perspective and aims to address the bias in divorce proceedings, where men are often seen as the accused while women are viewed as victims.
Despite the serious subject matter, the film is presented in a light-hearted manner with plenty of humor, similar to Rio's previous release 'Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja' (2019). The actor shares that the film concludes with an emotional and meaningful message.
As for the underperformance of his other two releases this year, Rio acknowledges that it does put pressure on him, and he constantly thinks about how to ensure the success of his upcoming projects. However, he believes that each film's success helps him take the next step in his career, and he never sees any film as a failure, instead taking it as a lesson.
