Summary

- He felt their fame was imposed on the Boy Meets World cast.
- Strong initially thought Matthew Lawrence's presence was unwelcome.

Rider Strong recently shared on the Brotherly Love podcast that he and the cast of Boy Meets World initially felt intimidated by the arrival of the Lawrence brothers. Strong, who played Shawn Hunter, stated that the collective fame of Matthew, Joey, and Andrew Lawrence made them seem like "established Hollywood people."
He recalled that when Matthew joined Boy Meets World in 1997 as Jack Hunter, Shawn's half-brother, there was a sentiment that his presence was "imposed on us." Strong admitted he questioned why Matthew needed to be on the show, feeling the network's desire for a Lawrence presence was unnecessary for their cast.
Despite initial apprehension, Strong eventually got to know Matthew Lawrence and found him to be shy and approachable. Their on-screen relationship as estranged half-brothers, Jack and Shawn, evolved over three seasons into a compelling fraternal bond, becoming a significant storyline in the series before its finale in 2000.
