He recalled that when Matthew joined Boy Meets World in 1997 as Jack Hunter, Shawn's half-brother, there was a sentiment that his presence was "imposed on us." Strong admitted he questioned why Matthew needed to be on the show, feeling the network's desire for a Lawrence presence was unnecessary for their cast.
Despite initial apprehension, Strong eventually got to know Matthew Lawrence and found him to be shy and approachable.
