The "Ride Along" film franchise, dormant for a decade, is experiencing renewed development momentum. Universal Pictures is reportedly working on a new installment, with writer Daniel Gold, known for his work on "Workin' Moms," attached to pen the script.
Key stars Kevin Hart and Ice Cube are in discussions to return for the project, alongside director Tim Story and producer Will Packer. This potential revival comes ten years after the release of the first "Ride Along" in 2014.
The original film achieved significant box office success, grossing over $130 million domestically. Its 2016 sequel also performed well, earning over $90 million, establishing the franchise as a profitable mid-budget series for Universal. The films center on two brothers-in-law with contrasting law enforcement styles.
