Estate Feud: Housekeeper vs. Brother

The estate of the late fitness icon Richard Simmons is embroiled in a contentious legal battle between his brother, Leonard Simmons, and his longtime housekeeper, Teresa Reveles Muro.

Leonard Simmons has filed a petition to remove Muro as co-trustee of Richard's estate, citing an inability to work with her. He proposed that a neutral third party be appointed to manage the trust, its assets, and intellectual property, or that both he and Muro resign. Leonard alleges Muro is using her co-trustee position to pursue a personal "vendetta" against him and others she believes have wronged her.

Muro, who resided with Simmons for 36 years, claims Leonard misled her into signing documents that stripped her of her co-trustee rights. The conflict has escalated with accusations of Muro improperly taking and withholding trust property, including jewelry potentially valued at $1 million, which she claims Richard gifted her. The sale of Simmons' Los Angeles home has also stalled due to disagreements over vendor contracts and pricing.
