Filmmaker Rian Johnson expressed his desire to cast Meryl Streep in an upcoming installment of his popular murder mystery franchise, which stars Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc. Johnson sees Streep as a perfect fit for the genre, noting her recent appearance on "Saturday Night Live" as a sign of possibility.
The third film in the series, "Wake Up Dead Man," is slated for release in select theaters on November 26, followed by a streaming debut on Netflix on December 12. This installment features a new ensemble cast, including Josh O'Connor and Glenn Close, and promises a shift in tone from its predecessor, "Glass Onion."
Johnson also indicated his commitment to the Benoit Blanc character is tied to his collaboration with Daniel Craig. While "Wake Up Dead Man" concludes his current deal with Netflix, both Johnson and Craig are keen to continue the series, though a fourth film remains unconfirmed.
