Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma posted on X on August 26, stating he was rewatching Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar'. This occurred on the same day Yash's much-anticipated film, 'Toxic,' was released. The timing is significant as 'Toxic' was initially scheduled for a March 19 release, the same date as 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge,' before its schedule was moved to August. Varma did not elaborate on his reason for rewatching 'Dhurandhar.'

However, many users interpreted Varma's post as a subtle criticism of 'Toxic,' which had reportedly received negative feedback earlier. Some comments directly linked Varma's post to 'Toxic,' with one user stating, "Bro is more toxic than #toxic." Another user suggested that Yash's decision to avoid a direct clash with 'Dhurandhar' was strategic, implying 'Dhurandhar' would outperform 'Toxic.'

He also contrasted 'KGF 2' as a 'LOCAL' film targeting the masses' 'DUMBNESS' with 'Dhurandhar,' which he claimed aimed for the masses' 'INTELLIGENCE,' leading to its 'GLOBAL' success.
