Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, known for his strong admiration of the recent film Dhurandhar 2, has voiced a notable point of disagreement regarding its narrative. Despite showering the Aditya Dhar directorial with praise, Varma has expressed reservations about how Dawood Ibrahim was depicted in the movie.
During a conversation, Varma clarified that while he doesn't claim definitive knowledge, the film's portrayal of the gangster, referred to as 'Bade Sahab' and shown orchestrating terror from Pakistan, does not match his personal understanding. He suggested that Dawood Ibrahim has been inactive by choice for the past two decades and may have retired from criminal activities.
Varma acknowledged the inherent ambiguity surrounding such figures, noting that absolute truth is elusive. He stated that while he cannot disprove the film's narrative, the director also cannot definitively prove it, highlighting the speculative nature of the portrayal.
Dhurandhar 2, the sequel to a popular film, follows the rise of Hamza Ali Mazari as a notorious figure and his journey as a spy. The film features a supporting cast including Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan.
