RGV Disagrees with Dawood's Depiction in 'Dhurandhar 2'

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, a noted supporter of 'Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge,' has voiced reservations regarding the film's depiction of Dawood Ibrahim. Varma, who previously lauded the movie as a significant advancement in Indian cinema, shared his differing perspective in a recent YouTube conversation. He suggested that the portrayal of the gangster might be inaccurate, stating it does not align with his personal knowledge. Varma elaborated on his long-held belief that Dawood Ibrahim has been inactive by choice, having retired from criminal activities approximately 20 years ago. He also noted recurring claims about the gangster's ill health and inactivity over the years. The director acknowledged the inherent ambiguity in depicting such real-life figures, conceding that absolute truth is elusive and difficult to prove or disprove. Released in March of this year, 'Dhurandhar 2' has achieved substantial commercial success, grossing over Rs 1700 crore worldwide. The 'Dhurandhar' franchise itself has now crossed the Rs 3000 crore global milestone, marking a historic achievement for an Indian film series.
