RGV Praises Dhurandhar 2's Realistic Pain Portrayal

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has expressed strong admiration for the recent film Dhurandhar 2, focusing on its technical and emotional depth. He highlighted how the movie portrays characters with moral complexity, noting that even protagonists like Ranveer Singh's character commit questionable acts, similar to antagonists. Varma critiqued other large-budget action films for depicting heroes as unaffected by pain, contrasting this with the genuine emotional responses shown in Dhurandhar 2. He specifically praised a scene where Ranveer Singh's character is stabbed, comparing the realistic portrayal of pain to Leonardo DiCaprio's performance in "Body of Lies." According to Varma, heroes who can bleed, feel pain, and cry exhibit a greater heroism than conventionally depicted pan-India stars. He believes the film's success lies in the respect and realism director Aditya Dhar infused into the characters, making them feel larger-than-life without artificial buildup. Dhurandhar 2 has achieved remarkable box office success, becoming the fastest Hindi film to surpass Rs 500 crore domestically. It has earned over Rs 800 crore worldwide, with a net domestic collection of Rs 519.12 crore and an additional Rs 210 crore from overseas markets.
