Just over a week ago, on November 6th, 2025, a group of residents at the Old Vicarage care home in Bakewell, Derbyshire surprised everyone by appearing in their own homemade rap video. The idea was conceived by the home's activity coordinator, James Dixon, who had previously organized a successful comedy Western film project for the residents.
This time, Dixon wanted to give the residents an opportunity to share their life stories through the medium of rap music. The resulting video features the elderly residents using green screens and costumes to create a lively and engaging production. The lyrics cover a range of topics, including one resident's close brushes with the Grim Reaper and the ongoing disputes over the television remote control.
