The Resident Evil franchise is preparing for a major expansion in the coming years. According to insider reports, the highly anticipated remakes of Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero are currently in development.
The Code: Veronica remake, being handled by the teams behind the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes, is rumored to launch in 2027. This project has been given a significant budget and is being treated as a flagship title, with major gameplay changes and graphical improvements expected. The remake will also feature revisions to characters like Steve Burnside and an expanded role for Albert Wesker.
Meanwhile, the Resident Evil Zero remake is being developed by the Resident Evil 3 team and is currently targeting a 2028 release. This project, codenamed "Chamber," will follow and expand upon the original story while introducing new cinematic scenes. However, the development has faced some internal delays, leading to a reboot that has pushed the release timeline back.
Alongside these remakes, the Resident Evil franchise is also gearing up for the release of Resident Evil Requiem in late February 2026. This new installment will introduce a fresh protagonist in the form of FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, further expanding the series' narrative.
With three major Resident Evil releases expected in consecutive years, fans of the iconic survival horror franchise have a lot to look forward to in the near future.
