€9 Million Art Heist Shocks French Riviera

Four valuable paintings by French Impressionist master Pierre-Auguste Renoir were stolen from the Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer, southern France, on Tuesday. The artworks are valued at approximately €9 million.
Authorities were alerted when the museum's alarm sounded at 5:48 am. Municipal police arrived within minutes. Surveillance cameras captured the two suspects as they fled the museum, one of whom dropped one of the stolen paintings during their escape. This particular painting was recovered by the police.
The Renoir Museum, established in 1960, is housed in the artist's final residence. It preserves not only his paintings but also personal effects. This incident follows a significant art theft at the Louvre in Paris less than a year prior, where eight items worth around $100 million were taken.
