Reggie Hayes, the 56-year-old actor known for his role in "Girlfriends," recently shared a unique Father's Day gift on Instagram: a 3D-printed Devo energy dome hat. The hat was a creation by his nephew, Max. Hayes took the opportunity to humorously reference his 2007 feature in PEOPLE magazine as one of the "sexiest nerds alive."
Hayes, who played William Dent on the UPN series from 2000 to 2008, previously spoke about the dire financial situation he faced before landing the "Girlfriends" role. He admitted to being desperate, with overdue rent and credit card debt, making the role a significant turning point in his life.
He found the character of William Dent relatable, noting that "90%" of the role was akin to his own shy and geeky persona. The show often incorporated aspects of Hayes's real life into the character's storyline, such as when he purchased a house, which was then reflected in the series.
