A recent reggaeton track, "Rosita," has plunged the genre into a public dispute between prominent artists Tainy, Jhayco, and Rauw Alejandro. The song, released last week, features a lyric from Jhayco that references Christian Nodal, interpreted as a direct reference to his past relationship with Argentinian singer Cazzu. This has sparked significant controversy and a war of words across social media.
Cazzu responded cryptically on X, and Rauw Alejandro posted about the prevalence of controversy over art. Jhayco reposted Alejandro's message and later admitted to writing the Nodal-referencing line, claiming no intention to disrespect anyone. The song's credits initially included Bad Bunny but were later adjusted on some platforms.
Cazzu then published a Substack essay titled "Tiradera," discussing male camaraderie and hinting at ongoing custody battles with Nodal over their daughter, Inti. Christian Nodal addressed the lyric on Instagram, downplaying it as a lighthearted jab at his romantic reputation rather than an attack, and questioned the relevance of their daughter to the music debate.
Further statements followed from Rauw Alejandro, who clarified his non-involvement in writing the controversial line and emphasized unity. Jhayco reiterated his regret, stating the intention was never to belittle anyone and expressed love for all involved. Tainy, the producer, finally broke his silence, emphasizing the song's original intent of unity and expressing sorrow that it caused offense.
