In November 2025, RedRover, the Korea-based animation studio, announced its ambitious plans to venture into K-pop-driven storytelling. The company has tapped prolific Korean filmmaker Lee Seok-hoon to write and direct "Rainmakers," marking a significant shift in the studio's focus.
Lee, who is known for his work spanning multiple genres, including the recent hit action sequel "Confidential Assignment 2: International," will bring his unique vision to the animated feature. "Rainmakers" centers on an unlikely alliance between an orphan and a princess, who join forces with outcasts to take down a corporate threat to their world. Music plays a central role in the story, with the aesthetic and energy of K-pop woven throughout the film's narrative and visual design.
"As Korean culture, and K-pop in particular, continues to grow and be celebrated globally, we are thrilled to bring a bold, music-driven animated feature to life under the visionary direction of Lee Seok-hoon," said Amy Shi, strategy executive and producer at RedRover. The studio is presenting the project at the American Film Market (AFM) alongside its other upcoming releases, including "The Nut Job 3" and the sci-fi racing film "MegaRacer."
