In the lead-up to the upcoming Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, the event has unveiled its Festival Favourites lineup for December. The 12-title program features a diverse array of high-profile films, including the Charlie XCX-starring drama Erupcja and several entries that have been selected as their countries' submissions for the Best International Feature Film Oscar.
Across the globe, other major film festivals are also honoring acclaimed directors. The Les Arcs Film Festival in France has named Egyptian-Swedish filmmaker Tarik Saleh as its guest of honor, as he prepares for the French release of his 2025 Cannes Palme d'Or contender Eagles of the Republic. Meanwhile, the Geneva International Film Festival in Switzerland will pay tribute to acclaimed directors Stephen Frears and Alan Ball, with Frears receiving the festival's Film & Beyond Award and Ball being honored for his Oscar-winning screenplay for American Beauty.
