Charlotte MacInnes, an actor suing Rebel Wilson for damaging her career, has recently secured a substantial record deal worth $150,000 with Atlantic Records. This development arises amid MacInnes's legal dispute with Wilson over social media posts. MacInnes alleges that Wilson's posts, visible to her 11 million followers, suggested she withdrew a complaint about a co-producer in exchange for acting and music opportunities.
MacInnes denies making the complaint and asserts her reputation has been severely damaged before her first feature film, 'The Deb,' could boost her career. However, Wilson's legal representative argued that MacInnes has not suffered career harm since the posts began in September 2024. MacInnes's manager confirmed the record deal, which includes an advance of $US110,000 ($A154,000), with her second single scheduled for release imminently.
Despite claims that the single's release timing is coincidental, the co-writer of 'The Deb' testified that MacInnes has been irrevocably affected, suffering nightmares, panic attacks, and a loss of innocence. The co-writer characterized MacInnes as having become more "armored" and experiencing constant vigilance and anxiety due to Wilson's posts, which she felt implied MacInnes was a liar who traded sexual favors for roles and deals.
