Summary
- Rebecca Ryan and Matthew Wolfenden join Hollyoaks as part of a new family.
- Both actors have already begun filming their new scenes.
- Ryan is known for Shameless; Wolfenden for Emmerdale.

Actress Rebecca Ryan, widely recognized for her role in the hit series Shameless, is set to join the cast of Hollyoaks. She will reportedly be introduced as part of a new family unit, sharing the screen with actor Matthew Wolfenden. Both performers have already begun filming their initial scenes for the Channel 4 soap opera.
Sources indicate that Ryan and Wolfenden's arrival signals the introduction of a major new family and storyline expected later in the year. Ryan, 34, gained fame at 11 as Debbie Gallagher in Shameless and has since appeared in Coronation Street, Casualty, and Waterloo Road. Wolfenden, 45, recently concluded a 17-year tenure as David Metcalfe in Emmerdale.
Wolfenden's departure from Emmerdale in April 2024 followed his decision not to renew his contract after accepting a lead role in a West End musical. His move to Hollyoaks marks a significant new chapter for the actor, with expectations he will be a popular addition to the show.
The new signings coincide with the upcoming departure of Alex Fletcher, who plays Diane Hutchinson, after a 16-year run. Fletcher's character will be written out in a storyline addressing ovarian cancer, a cause close to the actress's heart, aiming to raise awareness about the disease.
