Rebecca Gayheart has spoken out following the passing of her husband, actor Eric Dane, who died at age 53 on Thursday. His death followed a courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a diagnosis he publicly shared just 10 months prior.
Gayheart expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming love and support from their community, particularly through a GoFundMe campaign established for their teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia. This fund had raised more than $295,000 as of Sunday afternoon, heading toward its $500,000 goal.
Despite their separation in 2017 and Gayheart filing for divorce in 2025 (a filing later dismissed after Dane's diagnosis), the couple remained close friends and dedicated co-parents. Gayheart cared for Dane until his death. In a pre-recorded interview that aired February 20, Dane reflected on their unique bond, calling Gayheart his "best friend" and "biggest champion."
