Real Madrid Cleared in Bernabéu Concert Noise Dispute
13 May
Summary
- Criminal investigation into Bernabéu stadium noise pollution dismissed.
- Court ruled noise pollution issues do not warrant criminal proceedings.
- Promoters, not the stadium, are responsible for decibel limits.

Real Madrid has successfully had a criminal investigation into noise pollution from concerts at the Bernabéu Stadium dismissed. The Provincial Court of Madrid issued a ruling that definitively ends the criminal process, which was initiated in 2024 following a complaint from residents of the Chamartín neighborhood. The court's decision clarifies that neither Real Madrid Stadium S. L. nor its general director, José Ángel Sánchez Periáñez, are responsible for any criminal offense related to the stadium's concerts.
The investigation began after a local residents' organization filed a complaint, leading to a judicial inquiry. A judge had previously determined that a trial should proceed, citing evidence of possible noise pollution. However, Real Madrid appealed this ruling, arguing that such environmental code issues were not grounds for criminal proceedings. The club emphasized that concert promoters hold the responsibility for ensuring compliance with decibel limits.
The Bernabéu Stadium recently underwent extensive renovations to become a significant venue for live music. It hosted major tours, including Taylor Swift's Eras Tour and Karol G's Mañana Será Bonito Tour, in the summer of 2024. Following concerns about sound levels, Real Madrid announced a suspension of concerts in September 2024. Additional soundproofing work at the stadium is expected to be completed in 2026.
