Real-Life Couple Stars in New Comedy 'Newlyweds'

Tèa Leoni and Tim Daly, who are married in real life, have been cast as the lead couple in NBC's new comedy pilot, 'Newlyweds.' This marks their second on-screen collaboration, having previously portrayed a married couple on the CBS drama 'Madam Secretary.' Leoni and Daly expressed their desire to work together again, seeking a lighter project after 'Madam Secretary' became more somber.

The comedy 'Newlyweds' centers on a free-spirited woman, played by Leoni, and a buttoned-up professor, portrayed by Daly, who impulsively marry following a brief courtship. The couple noted that their real-life chemistry provides an advantage, allowing for more authentic on-screen interactions. They also humorously mentioned not needing an intimacy coordinator due to their actual marital status.

Adding to the cast is Jamie Lee Curtis, who is not only recurring on the show but also serves as an executive producer. Curtis, embracing her role with the self-proclaimed title of 'HBIC' (Head Bitch In Charge), expressed her enthusiasm for being in a position of creative leadership. She will be playing the ex-wife of Daly's character.
