Reading Festival organizers have submitted a licensing change application that could introduce a fourth day of music. The proposal seeks to allow amplified music on the main stage on Thursdays, from 5:00 PM to midnight. This change, if approved by Reading Borough Council, would be implemented starting in 2027.
Festival Republic, the organizer, has also applied to extend the hours for alcohol sales. These potential changes follow recent modifications to the festival's site setup since its post-pandemic restart. Notably, the dual main stage format was replaced with the Chevron Stage in 2024.
This year's festival, scheduled for August 27-30, will feature headliners Charli XCX, Dave, and Raye, alongside Fontaines DC, Chase & Status, and Florence + The Machine. The events will take place at Reading's Richfield Avenue and Bramham Park in Leeds.
