Raven-Symoné Slams Fashion Industry Over Past Body Shaming

Raven-Symoné recently shared candid reflections on her past experiences within the entertainment industry, particularly concerning fashion and body image. During a podcast episode with her wife, Miranda Maday, the actress expressed frustration that she was never gifted outfits for red carpets. She explained that throughout her career, she had to purchase all her own designer clothing because her size was not accommodated by brands.

Symoné voiced her disillusionment, stating, "Fashion could f--- off, and I'm not sorry for saying that because no one ever took care of me back then." She noted that currently, fashion is more inclusive, with designers catering to diverse body types, which she finds "cool to be thick."

The former Disney star has previously spoken about the body shaming she endured while growing up in Hollywood. She revealed that external pressures led her to undergo her first breast reduction surgery, going from a triple D to a B cup, as she was told it was necessary to secure a show. Her father also strongly suggested the procedure.

Additionally, Symoné shared that she concurrently opted for liposuction, hoping to quell negative remarks about her weight. She recalled thinking, "If I get lipo, will people stop calling me fat?" She now bears scars from these procedures and has spoken about gaining weight afterward, necessitating further intervention to meet others' perceived ideal sizes.
