Rashmika Mandanna Advocates for Actor Boundaries

Rashmika Mandanna recently spoke about the importance of actors setting personal boundaries, especially concerning costume choices in commercial films. During her appearance on Koffee With Karan Season 9, she expressed her discomfort with excessive skin exposure, stating she is not the type of person to wear revealing outfits unless a role strictly demands it, and even then, she prefers to voice her concerns. Mandanna highlighted her preference for directors who understand and respect her decisions regarding wardrobe. She believes performers should feel empowered to communicate their limitations without pressure.

She acknowledged that certain commercial film roles may necessitate specific costumes, but she firmly establishes her own boundaries. Mandanna admitted that directly refusing a scene can be difficult, often requiring support from Vijay Deverakonda, who encouraged her to express her feelings. Deverakonda stressed that actors should have the freedom to decline intimate scenes or revealing attire without being deemed unprofessional. Both actors agreed that performers might later regret not speaking up about their discomfort.
