Summary
- 'Thamma' earns ₹42 crore in first two days, second-highest opener in Maddock horror-comedy universe
- Becomes Ayushmann Khurrana's biggest opener, surpassing 'DreamGirl 2'
- Praised for lead pair's performances, connected to Maddock's other horror-comedy films
On October 23, 2025, the new horror-comedy film 'Thamma' from Maddock Films continued its impressive box office run, earning ₹18 crore on its first working day after the Diwali holidays. This took the film's total collections to ₹42 crore in just two days.
'Thamma', starring Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana, registered a solid opening of ₹24 crore, making it the second-highest opener in the Maddock horror-comedy universe, after 'Stree 2'. The film has also become Ayushmann Khurrana's biggest opener, surpassing the opening collections of 'DreamGirl 2' (₹10.69 crore).
While trade analyst Taran Adarsh cautioned against directly comparing 'Thamma' to the established 'Stree 2' franchise, he praised the film's strong start across India. He noted that the long holiday period is expected to help 'Thamma' post an excellent total in its extended opening weekend.
Critics have also praised the lead pair's performances, with NDTV's Saibal Chatterjee writing that Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana "never lose grip over roles that require their prosthetic Dracula teeth to do as much of the talking as their eyes."
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, 'Thamma' also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqi and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. The film is part of Maddock Films' interconnected horror-comedy universe, which includes the 'Stree' films, 'Bhediya', and 'Munjya'.
