Summary
- A 400-gram gold scabbard is now on display.
- The scabbard was a gift from an Arab ruler.
- This marks the start of a new fortnightly exhibition series.

A rare 400-gram gold scabbard has been placed on public display at the Allahabad Museum as the inaugural piece in a new 'single object exhibition' series. This initiative was launched to showcase unique artifacts from the museum's collection.
The precious scabbard was originally gifted by an Arab country's ruler to the then Governor of Uttar Pradesh. Subsequently, the Raj Bhavan Uttar Pradesh handed it over to the Allahabad Museum for safekeeping as a national heritage object.
Museum officials highlighted that the scabbard symbolizes cultural exchange between Arab nations and India. This fortnightly exhibition format was conceived to address space limitations in the permanent gallery, ensuring that rare and previously un-exhibited items are regularly presented to the public.
