In the two months since the launch of "Steve Albini's Closet," a new website that functions as a digital estate sale for the legendary musician and producer's personal belongings, fans have been rushing to acquire rare items from Albini's collection. The website, organized by Albini's longtime friend and former Forced Exposure journalist Byron Coley, offers a weekly selection of Albini's rare vinyl records, concert posters, weird books, vintage T-shirts, unique artwork, poker items, and more.

Coley explains that the goal is to make Albini's belongings accessible to fans, with items priced as low as $25 so that everyone can own a piece of the punk icon's legacy. While some have questioned whether these tools and test pressings should be immortalized in a museum, Coley notes that institutions have reached out to Albini's wife, Heather Whinna, expressing interest in displaying select items. However, the sheer volume of Albini's collection, which he amassed over the course of his life, makes it difficult to curate a comprehensive exhibit. Coley believes that Albini, who was famously averse to praise, would have been uncomfortable with a museum celebration of his person.

As the weekly sales continue, fans have the opportunity to own a unique piece of Albini's history, whether it's a rare record he listened to or a vintage T-shirt he once wore.
