Rarest 50p Coin Sells for £83!

A rare Atlantic Salmon 50p coin has captured significant attention after selling for £83 on eBay, a remarkable 166 times its face value. This coin, part of eight new designs released following King Charles III's accession, is now the UK's rarest circulating 50p, with only 200,000 pieces introduced. The Atlantic Salmon design was chosen to represent the UK's diverse wildlife.

While the value of rare coins can fluctuate based on condition and collector demand, this sale has prompted many to examine their loose change. The Royal Mint also recently revealed a new 50p coin commemorating the 50th anniversary of Concorde's first commercial flight, celebrating British ingenuity and the iconic aircraft's speed and style.
