The Karnataka High Court is hearing a petition filed by actor Ranveer Singh to quash a complaint and FIR registered against him. The case involves alleged derogatory remarks made by Singh regarding a divine character in the film Kantara Chapter 1. Justice M. Nagaprasanna expressed concern over the actor's comments, emphasizing the accountability of public figures. The court questioned the government's delay in submitting objections.
During the hearing on Tuesday, the complainant's advocate argued that Ranveer Singh's prior apology was insincere, as it was a tweet managed by his team. The advocate insisted on an oral apology, suggesting Singh visit Chamundi Hill with his counsel. The bench agreed, stating the actor should comply if the complainant requested a court appearance for the apology.
Senior advocate Sajan Poovayya, representing Singh, assured the court that an affidavit of apology would be filed and that Ranveer Singh would visit Chamundi Hill. The court highlighted the importance of showing remorse at the temple, noting the significant influence actors wield. The matter has been adjourned to April 10 for further proceedings, with Ranveer Singh's father present in court.
