Preliminary investigations suggested a Bishnoi gang associate named Harry Boxer as the sender, issuing the threat shortly after a firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's home.
In response to the threat, security was enhanced around Ranveer's residence. The Crime Branch initiated collaboration with US authorities to trace the number and identify the sender.
