Summary
- Actor Ranveer Singh's apology was accepted by Karnataka High Court.
- Singh must visit the Chamundeshwari temple in Mysore within four weeks.
- An FIR against Singh for mimicry of Kantara character was quashed.

The Karnataka High Court has accepted actor Ranveer Singh's unconditional apology regarding his mimicry of daivas from the film Kantara. This acceptance came after Singh submitted a revised affidavit on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The court indicated it would dispose of the matter and directed Singh to visit the Chamundeshwari temple in Mysore within four weeks.
The case stemmed from an FIR registered against Singh for his mimicry of Rishab Shetty's character at the International Film Festival of India last year. Allegations included hurting religious sentiments by misidentifying a deity as a female ghost. Singh had previously agreed to work with the complainant on the apology affidavit after his initial one was deemed to lack genuine remorse.
Singh had mistakenly referred to the daivas as ghosts during a film event. He then mimicked Shetty's portrayal, which is part of the Bhoota Kola tradition of coastal Karnataka. A complaint was filed by a Hindu outfit, leading Singh to approach the Karnataka High Court in February 2026 to challenge the FIR.
