Summary
- Rani Mukerji won her first National Award for Best Actress in 2023
- Rani says she competes with herself, not other actors
- Rani will next be seen in Mardaani 3 and have a cameo in King

In a recent interview, renowned Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji addressed the long-standing rumors of a rivalry between her and her cousin, fellow actress Kajol. Rani, who won her first National Award for Best Actress earlier this year for her performance in Mrs Chatterjee Vs. Norway, firmly stated that there was never any competition between the two.
"There was no competition," Rani explained. "When we do films, we compete with ourselves. Today, if you watch a film of mine, you will definitely compare it with my last film. You will never compare me to a film that somebody has done." The actress emphasized that her focus has always been on bettering her own craft, rather than comparing herself to others.
Rani further elaborated on the concept of showbiz rivalry, sharing, "I am not competing with somebody else because other people's journey will be different from mine. The choice of films that another actor does is entirely about what another actor is doing. What I choose to do with my career is completely different. So, there was never competition between the actors."
