Randy Quaid Slams Anne Hathaway's 'Days of Thunder' Casting

Randy Quaid, a veteran actor from the original "Days of Thunder," has voiced strong disapproval regarding the casting of Anne Hathaway in the film's newly confirmed sequel. Quaid shared his opinions on social media platform X, specifically criticizing Hathaway's suitability for the role and labeling her a "leftist, woke" choice. He controversially suggested that Nicole Kidman, who was Cruise's romantic interest in the 1990 original, should instead be cast as the female lead.

Quaid argued that Kidman's presence would be more appealing to the "MAGA" audience he perceives for NASCAR films. He further commented on the sequel's production, likening the current rush to that of the original film where editors reportedly slept in the cutting room. Quaid's outburst also included personal remarks towards Tom Cruise.

In "Days of Thunder," Quaid played team owner Tim Daland, who recruited Cruise's character, Cole Trickle. While Cruise is the sole original cast member confirmed for the sequel, other active actors from the first film include Cary Elwes, John C. Reilly, and Michael Rooker. Quaid's public commentary comes years after he became more associated with conservative politics and faced legal challenges, including charges of burglary in 2010 that led to his flight to Canada with his wife.
