Sunil Lahri on Ranbir's Ram: Lacks innocence, suits Laxman
4 Apr
Summary
- Ranbir Kapoor's Ram portrayal lacks innocence and calm.
- Sunil Lahri suggests Ranbir might suit roles like Laxman.
- Dipika Chikhlia praises the grand scale and beauty of the teaser.

The teaser for the upcoming Ramayana film has generated mixed reactions, with Sunil Lahri offering a critical assessment of Ranbir Kapoor's portrayal of Lord Ram. Lahri noted that while Kapoor's look is acceptable, it misses the essential patience, calm, and innocence he associated with the character. He believes Kapoor's recent on-screen persona, particularly after 'Animal,' appears too harsh, suggesting he would be better suited for roles like Laxman or Bharat. Lahri also opined that casting a fresh face without a pre-existing image would have been more appropriate for the role of Ram.
Conversely, Dipika Chikhlia, who previously played Sita, expressed admiration for the teaser, describing it as grand and beautifully made. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The ensemble cast includes Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Ramayana: Part I is scheduled for release this Diwali, with the second part expected in Diwali 2027.
