Rana Daggubati Laments Ruining 'Bangalore Days' in Tamil Remake

Two years ago, actor Rana Daggubati starred in the Tamil remake of the acclaimed Malayalam film 'Bangalore Days.' However, in a recent interview, Daggubati has now expressed deep regret over the experience, admitting they "completely ruined" the adaptation.

Daggubati, who played the role originally portrayed by Fahadh Faasil, revealed that despite being a huge fan of the original, the Tamil version, titled 'Bangalore Naatkal,' simply did not work. "Dulquer and I are schoolmates. The first role of his that I really loved was his character in Bangalore Days. But when we remade it in Tamil, we ruined it," he said.

The actor also recalled a humorous moment from the film's shooting, involving his co-star Arya. "I still remember what Arya told me during the shoot -- he said, 'Machaa, look at Dulquer and Nivin -- they're young boys. But when people see us, we look like middle-aged men living a retired life,'" Daggubati laughed.

Ultimately, 'Bangalore Naatkal' failed to recreate the charm of Anjali Menon's original and flopped at the box office. In a 2020 interview, Daggubati revisited the decision to take on the project, admitting it was not the best move. "I wish we hadn't remade such a beautiful film," he said.
