In 2025, the renowned British dance company Rambert is preparing to celebrate its 100th anniversary with a special tour of China. The company's subsidiary, RTS Entertainment, will be presenting the stage adaptation of the popular TV series "Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby" to Chinese audiences next year.
The dance-theater production, which follows the Shelby family from the World War I battlefields to the post-war landscape of Birmingham, was written by the show's creator, Steven Knight, and choreographed by Rambert's artistic director, Benoit Swan Pouffer. The live performance will feature original music composed by Roman GianArthur, as well as songs by artists like Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Radiohead, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
This tour marks Rambert's return to the Chinese market, where RTS Entertainment has already staged five shows over the past year and a half, including the Olivier-winning "Life of Pi" and Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express." According to Rambert's CEO, Helen Shute, international touring has always been a crucial part of the company's DNA, as it helps to connect with audiences beyond language and strengthen creative partnerships.
Boris Cao, the CEO of RTS Entertainment, expressed his pride in bringing Rambert back to China to celebrate the company's centenary, stating that Chinese audiences will deeply connect with the "Peaky Blinders" story of hope and rebirth, just as audiences in the UK have.
