Namit Malhotra's ambitious Ramayana is facing scrutiny over its visual effects, with reactions ranging from calls of artificiality to comparisons with AI-generated imagery. Despite a reported budget of Rs 4,000 crore and backing from an Oscar-winning VFX studio, the film's appearance has divided audiences. The criticism often stems from perceived inconsistencies, with some parts of the film exhibiting convincing scale and texture while others, like forest sequences, appear flat and unconvincing.

However, stylistic intent does not excuse craft; production pressures and tight deadlines can also contribute to uneven CGI.
