He explained that many misunderstand the complex, multi-year process behind computer-generated imagery, often mistaking it for instant AI generation. Malhotra and Tiwari emphasized that the extensive visual effects, some taking up to three years to complete, are designed for an IMAX experience. They argued that viewing unfinished footage on phones with poor internet connections provides an inaccurate assessment. The team is focused on delivering a high-quality cinematic experience, acknowledging "Ramayana" as one of DNEG's most challenging projects to date.
The first full trailer, released on July 30, showcased Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Yash as Ravana, and Sai Pallavi as Sita, setting up their conflict. The film is set to release in two parts, with the first part scheduled for Diwali this year and the second next year. The ensemble cast includes numerous prominent actors, with music by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
