After nearly four decades, Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia, iconic for their roles as Lord Ram and Sita in the 1987 'Ramayan', are set to star together again in the feature film 'Notice'. Directed by Pradeep Gupta, the film is scheduled for an OTT premiere on November 6. Govil will also soon appear as King Dashrath in 'Ramayana: Part 1', releasing on November 8.
The film 'Notice' offers a modern interpretation of the Ram and Sita dynamic, set in a village where Govil's character challenges a corrupt system. Chikhlia portrays his supportive wife. Producer Aditya Pratap Singh Raghuvanshi explained that the story centers on a 150-year-old shop, resonating with those displaced by development, and felt the legendary pair was perfect to tell this tale of truth versus untruth.
'Notice' will stream on Waves, with the digital release chosen to reach a nationwide audience, especially fans who grew up with the actors on television. The film is also slated to broadcast on 36 satellite channels. This release strategy ensures accessibility beyond typical theatrical audiences.
While 'Notice' is their first feature collaboration in 39 years, Govil and Chikhlia recently reunited for the music video 'Humare Ram Aaye Hai' in 2024. Their enduring legacy as Ram and Sita continues to define their careers, now seeing them together in a contemporary narrative.
