Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has officially abandoned plans to shoot 'Sarkar 4,' a project initially slated to begin in April with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan. Varma cited the profound impact of the film 'Dhurandhar' and its sequel as the primary reason for this shift.
Varma confessed that his previous gangster films were derivative of 'The Godfather,' and he often made movies without a strong purpose. He now feels a significant creative reset is necessary. He expressed immense admiration for director Aditya Dhar, comparing his early awe of Steven Spielberg to his current feelings for Dhar.
This renewed creative energy has led Varma to announce a new project titled 'Syndicate.' He clarified that 'Syndicate' is not an attempt to replicate 'Dhurandhar' but is being undertaken with the same sincerity of purpose that fueled his earlier acclaimed films like 'Shiva' and 'Satya.' Varma believes 'Syndicate' will be his most honest work to date.
