He starred as Bill Gambini in the 1992 film, which centered on two New York students wrongfully accused of murder in Alabama.
This playful suggestion follows the successful Broadway transformation of Macchio's 1983 film, The Outsiders, into a Tony Award-winning musical. Macchio, who portrayed Johnny Cade in the original film, was seen backstage with the cast of the musical in June 2024. A musical adaptation of The Karate Kid is also in the works, currently touring in the UK, with plans for a potential Broadway run.
