Rajpal Yadav's Rs 9 Cr Debt Case: Industry Rallies Support

Actor-comedian Rajpal Yadav is navigating ongoing legal difficulties stemming from a cheque bounce case associated with an alleged Rs 9 crore debt. Hopes for his immediate release following a recent bail hearing were not met, though the film industry has shown considerable solidarity by offering both financial and moral support.

Filmmaker Priyadarshan, a frequent collaborator with Yadav, has publicly expressed his support and is currently working with him on a new project, which also features Pankaj Tripathi. Priyadarshan revealed that he requested the producers of his latest film to increase Yadav's pay to aid him during this difficult time, a request that was granted. He described Yadav as a good soul who made a mistake due to his limited education.

Adding to the support, actor Gurmeet Choudhary has pledged financial assistance to Yadav. Choudhary criticized the disparity in how white-collar criminals and artists are treated, emphasizing Yadav's contributions to the entertainment industry and asserting that he does not deserve his current predicament. He urged other industry colleagues to come forward and assist.

The financial issues are reportedly linked to Yadav's 2012 directorial venture, 'Ata Pata Laapata,' which did not perform well at the box office, leading to accumulated interest on production loans. Despite reported assistance from other prominent actors, Yadav was unable to secure bail as of the report's publication.
