Rajpal Yadav's Legal Woes: From Music Launch to Courtroom
21 Feb
Summary
- Yadav received interim bail in a Rs 5 crore financial dispute.
- A disagreement at a film music launch involving Amitabh Bachchan triggered the issue.
- The legal battle involves multiple agreements and court proceedings since 2012.

Actor Rajpal Yadav secured interim bail from the Delhi High Court amidst an ongoing financial dispute with businessman Madhav Gopal Aggarwal. The dispute centers on a Rs 5 crore loan provided for Yadav's film, 'Ata Pata Laapata.' Legal troubles allegedly initiated after a disagreement at the film's music launch event in September 2012, an event graced by Amitabh Bachchan.
The initial loan agreement led to supplemental agreements, with Yadav issuing post-dated cheques. The situation reportedly soured when the complainant wished to share the stage with Amitabh Bachchan at the music launch, leading to annoyance and an initial court filing for a stay on the film. Subsequent agreements, including a consent decree in 2016, set a repayment amount of Rs 10.40 crores.
Despite payments totaling Rs 1.90 crore and a guarantor offering property as security, the complainant allegedly refused, opting instead for Yadav's imprisonment. The case saw old cheques revived, leading to convictions and sentencing in 2018. Yadav's team has since challenged these orders, arguing for a full hearing on merit, with the matter remaining pending.
